Name that Painting in Six Words

by Barbara Hartsook on January 15, 2010 · 12 comments

I’m not very good at naming things. I agonize over headlines and story titles, anything that must be told quickly and completely.

I love words, you see. They tell pictures…

Even giving title to a painting challenges me — I guess because I want the viewer to relate visually and emotionally and create their own stories. Wordy and full. Personal.

But in the blogging world, short is important. Vital even. People want a quick picture, even when that picture is in words. They want headlines that promise a picture-story.

…And Paintings Tell Stories

Candid photos and those taken while a pose is still in the works — those are the pictures that often suggest stories to me. Those are the quickly-captured shots of real people with real livesĀ  busy doing those lives.

And those are the stories I like to paint…

6-word stories that inspired me to paint

Let’s try this. One. More. Time.

And a favorite photo just begging to be finished…

Will you paint me PLEASE, Gramma?

We keep photo albums and scrapbooks to remember and relive and share the stories of our lives.

Can you tell a story in six words? Write a memoir, six words?

Grab some coffee and please tell us a story. Thanks for playing. :)

Hi Bean.
I LOVE your story #1.

How insightful. No wonder you are such an excellent teacher!

…. and, how can you be smart in the morning when you stay up all night working? :) I’m not very smart at night, being an early-bird.Thanks so much for the visit.

A new look blog! Very neat and cool, but I miss the old one! It felt warm, very coffee-ish, and somehow more artistic, more you than this one…

As to the six word limit, that certainly is a challenge, hmm, let me think….!

Hi Swati. I also love my old theme, but there’s no update for it, and it isn’t keeping up with WordPress’ newer versions. So I’m in the process of customizing my new theme to make it homey. I have a whole lot to learn, so please bear with me. :) Thanks for coming by, and for giving me your opinion. I’ll be looking for everyone’s as I gradually make the changes.

Did my comment get lost in the spam bin again? Wordpress hates my blog Hello, net baby! – so I have to find a new name for it. What do you suggest? I am going to drop the chit chat and focus on websites but haven’t been able to come up with a name – so the makeover has been delayed :(

Hi Swati. I’m sorry if I missed one of your comments. This one made it just fine. :)

What about NetGenerationBaby? Let’s give it some thought… thanks for coming by for coffee. :)
